Product Description Thanks to its durable indoor and outdoor castor wheels and side--carry handles. Cool only where you need it, when you need it! Designed for quickly cooling any room in the house, this thoughtfully designed portable air conditioner uses environmentally-friendly R410a refrigerant gas to help protect the environment and the ozone layer. Its refrigerant also provides energy-efficient operation, using less energy to deliver the same amount of cooling as other refrigerant types. The air conditioner produces 12,000 BTUs of cooling power and offers four different fan speeds depending upon the level of cooling desired. It also supplies an electronic control panel with an easy-to-read LCD display, a fully featured remote control, and a 24-hour programmable timer that turns the unit on at a specific time--great for coming home to a cool room at the end of the day: In addition to cooling the air, the unit also functions as a dehumidifier with a "dripless" system, which means no annoying bucket to empty. Other highlights include Sleep and Smart modes, built-in air filtration, an energy-efficient adjustable thermostat, and quiet performance thanks to the high-efficiency compressor and components, as well as durable caster wheels and side handles for portability. Accessories include a window bracket and an exhaust hose for easy installation. The unit effectively combines an air cooler, a dehumidifier, and an air cleaner all in one stylish design that will nicely complement any decor. Designed and engineered in Italy, the eco-friendly air conditioner measures approximately 15 by 18-1/4 by 30-1/2 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

DISGUSTED June 25, 2010 Eugene Summers (BOSTON, MA, US) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The a/c was delivered totally smashed-up, broken and not running. 'Dropped-shipped' is right-on. It was dropped before it was shipped. I returned it in the same condition.
Great A/C Unit! May 5, 2010 Lady in Jax (Jacksonville, FL) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I own a couple of rental homes, and I've been meaning to buy one of these portable A/C units in case of emergencies. Yesterday, the A/C went out in one of my rental homes, and I was on the quest to buy one as a temporary fix until the central A/C of the home could be repaired. I did some shopping around previously, and I remembered my local Sam's Club had one for $268, and it happened to be this one (it's the "Penguino C120e" at Sam's Club). I know Sam's Club usually has some great prices, but I think my local store made a mistake on the price on this item, since it is available online in the $400-$500 range and it's not available on Sam's Club's site.
In any event, I got a really great deal (and it is still a really good deal on Amazon with the free shipping!), and I am very happy with this A/C unit. My tenant is ecstatic that I got this for her, since it was in the upper 80's last night here in Florida. It cooled her master bedroom quickly, and she was able to sleep in comfort. Now that I have it, it's great for those emergencies when the A/C goes out in the house, and I am going to use it in the garage for my boyfriend's man-cave when he moves in! It says on the box that it cools up to 450 s/f (the size of a 20' X 23' room), so it would be perfect for the garage. It also has a remote control with a timer, which is a neat option. Although it is heavy, it has casters on the bottom for easy mobility.
Important item to note: if the unit is transported on its side, the unit clearly states to sit it upright for at least 4 hours for the oil to resettle in the unit. If this is not done, it may cool for a while, but then the unit can burn out and loose its cooling. (Maybe the person who had a mixed review didn't follow these warnings.) So, when you do buy it, I suggest leaving it upright for 4 hours before turning it on, just in case.
P.S. It was really easy to setup!
best bang for the buck April 15, 2010 E. Smith (Louisiana) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This unit does a GREAT job at keeping my 1,000 sq ft home, built in 1924 COOL. It's already proven itself in 80+ degree days. I am bedridden quite a bit and LOVE the remote control.
I have already vacuumed the easy to reach pull out permanent mesh filter. The exhaust hose was Simple to install and only required my window to open 4 inches and could keep the Screen ON!
Haven't gotten the electric bill yet, but it works great.
I did extensive research for a month before selecting this product. It's about the size of a dorm refrigerator. It's level with my nightstand and it's light grey color seems to vanish in the room decor.
Only thing is I wish it were a combo heater, too.
Great Buy!
WHY SO MUCH! March 24, 2010 John Doe (Earth) 8 out of 16 found this review helpful
This is $399 from Best Buy. Amazon used to be very competitive in price. Why is this $over $600?
Some shortcomings December 22, 2009 bubusdeolivos (Houston, Texas United States) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I bought this unit used, in very good shape.
I would say that, after 4 days of heavy usage It's 12000 BTU's are NOT enough to refrigerate a 180 Sqf room with a big window facing South. (summer time, with just a 90F temp. outside)
Also, its has NO movable / adjustable air deflectors; they are fixed and the air flow is too low, given the fact that cool air goes down.
Another con, it's a sealed unit, meaning, you need to get special repair service to install a refrigerant charge valve in order to supply R407C ecologic gas, which is more expensive than others.
Mine started leaking water from the bottom. I disassembled it, and after 18 screws, couldn't find the problem. Went online and found some people with the same problem: there's a small hole (you need to take off the left cover) that had some lint and was obstructing the flow of condensation water to the sink below: I had to use a wire, back and forth and VOILA, no more leaks. THIS IS NOT EXPLAINED IN THE MANUAL.
Pros are it's portability and lack of installation.(holes, etc.)
